A church service is a gathering or assembly of people for worship, prayer, teaching and other religious activities in a Christian Church. It usually involves a sermon (a talk by a member of the clergy), hymns, readings from the Bible, prayers, and sometimes communion (the sharing of bread and wine as symbols of Jesus's body and blood). The service may also include other elements such as music, drama or testimony. Church services are usually held on Sundays but can take place at any time during the week. They provide an opportunity for Christians to come together to worship God, grow in their faith, and support one another through fellowship.
